1948 Palestinian Nakba
Today marks 78 years of the Palestinian Nakba. On this day (May 15) in 1948, Zionist militia groups expelled more than 750,000 Palestinians from their homeland and devastated more than 500 Palestinian villages.
This day is observed every year as Nakba Day. In the Arabic language, the literal meaning of the word 'Nakba' is catastrophe, sudden misery.
It refers to the systematic ethnic cleansing of two-thirds of the Palestinian population by Zionist paramilitary forces between 1947-1949.
Zionist forces occupied more than 78 percent of historical Palestine and ethnically cleansed them. The Zionists destroyed about 530 villages and towns, committed more than 70 massacres, and killed about 15,000 Palestinians.
